Travel Michigan, Issue #003 -- 2019 Newsletter January 09, 2019 |
Hello! We Have One Heck of an Announcement! It's 2019!! YEY! Have you made any new travel plans with your New Year Resolutions? We sure have!! DEEP BREATH....Our biggest announcement is that I (Sherry) have quit my 9-5 so I can focus on bringing you great content, exciting photos, up-to-date fun stuff and focus on traveling full time! I tried so hard to balance my daytime job while working evenings and weekends on Traveling Michigan (traveling, editing photos, creating web pages, connecting in Social Media) and two things happened. I was getting burned out and Traveling Michigan just wasn't receiving the attention it deserved. In fact, YOU haven't received the attention you deserve. So something had to give. We assessed what was best for our financial future (always important), what we were passionate about and what was best for you, our travel tribe. And for me, this project, connecting with you and working toward my dreams was my priority. And luckily we were both on board with that plan. What does that mean for you!? So right now we are working to overhaul Travel-Mi.com so it reads more concise, is cleaner and gives you a MUCH better experience. So please bear with us as we make changes, experiment, learn and grow. Our Goals: We will be bringing to you pod casts of our trips and experiences, weekly newsletters (might take a while to get that off the ground!), 360 degree interactive images, exciting videos, drone images and video and a new website experience. We are SOOOOO excited!! AND a little overwhelmed as we have so much to learn and implement! I want to thank you for believing in us and continuing with us on this journey. xoxo Sherry Connect with Us!Traveling Michigan Instagram Home Page PLEASE CONNECT WITH US on Instagram! Our Must Have Apps to Tour Michigan Like a Boss! All the apps listed below are available for free for Apple and Android. We utilize these apps frequently and find them very valuable tools while exploring Michigan. AllTrailsAllTrails App is available in iTunes and Android. They provide the most convenient trail locator and Map system we have ever seen. Its super easy to use and allows integrated trail maps that you can download for viewing while away from service. It also allows you to set up life line alerts to notify family when you are overdue for returning from your hike. It is well worth investigating and best of all its free! RoadTrippersThe only map built for travelers. Whether planning an epic cross-country road trip or a weekend escape, with Roadtrippers you're always 5 minutes away from something awesome. With RoadTrippers Discover millions of places, like local diners and quirky roadside attractions, or scenic points, national parks, and hotels. Plan trips directly from the app or on the web at roadtrippers.com, then share them with friends. Friends can add suggestions to your trip itinerary and travel with their favorite navigation app. Any trips you've saved or places you love will sync automatically across devices. GasBuddyWhen it's time to refuel, you'll be happy to have GasBuddy on your phone. It helps you find gas and a pit stop by location and price. If you can save a couple of bucks by cruising a little farther down the road, GasBuddy will let you know. TV Food MapsThis interactive app and website finds restaurants and eateries that have appeared on various television food shows, such as Bizarre Foods American, Top Chef, $40 a Day, Restaurant Impossible and (groan) Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. You plug in your starting point and destination, and then indicate how far off course you're willing to venture. WazeWaze is a free community-driven app for traffic and road conditions. While Google Maps tells you about officially reported problems and whether there's traffic in general, Waze knows the nitty-gritty, like the location of police traps and potholes. It's popular among taxi and car service drivers, but equally useful for everyday drivers. Make sure your phone is plugged in as Waze is always using your GPS location! |
