Blake's Sunflower Festival is an absolute gem in Michigan! Whether you’re looking for a fun day out with friends, a family-friendly activity, or a memorable father-daughter outing, this festival has it all. This year, my friend and I met there and spent a lovely four hours enjoying the artisan booths, eating a yummy lunch (she had a hot dog and I had a farm salad with chicken) and picking sunflowers!

Oh, and be sure to wear your cheerful sunflower outfits! We saw lots of people wearing sunflower dresses, shirts, sunflower wreathes on their heads and sunflower jewelry!

Things To Do at Blakes Sunflower Festival in Michigan

Blake's Sunflower Festival offers a wide array of activities for all ages and groups that make for a perfect summer day out in east Michigan. Here are a few of the highlights:

  • 150+ Artisans: I LOVE LOVE LOVE the artisans at Blake's Sunflower Festival.  (Many are also at their Blake's Lavender Festival, too).  Shop from a diverse selection of handcrafted products, including jewelry, art, home décor, and more.
  • FREE Classes, Speakers, and Demonstrations: Learn about natural wellness, aromatherapy, gardening, the benefits of local honey, and other fascinating topics. Some of them are even held inside so you can cool off!
  • FREE Fun For Kids: Enjoy exciting presentations featuring live animals (I saw a discussion about snakes!), perfect for little ones to learn and have fun.
  • DIY Make and Take Workshops: Get hands-on with fresh real sunflowers and create your own unique crafts (additional charge).
  • U-Pick Sunflowers, Wildflowers, Fruits, and Vegetables: Hop back in your car and drive behind the festival to Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill's fields. I recommend bringing a box for your vegetables, grocery bags, snippers, muckin' boots or old shoes, sunscreen, and gloves. You will see signs listing what is ready for harvest and picking. You will pay for everything on your way out. Check Blake's U-Pick website for what is currently available.

You don't have to brave the heat and dirt to pick your own sunflowers, in fact, these were in better condition than the ones in the field!  I bought mine already picked and they lasted 5 days at home.

More Fun Things To Do!

  • Shop the Market!  There are lots of freshly picked fruit such as peaches, tomatoes, zucchini and such avalable for purchase. Oh, and of course, be sure to pick up a couple boxes of their hard cider before you leave.
  • Shop for Blake's Swag and Hard Cider! I picked up three hard cider stickers, a Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill patch for my backpack, and two cases of their Carmel Apple Hard Cider which is my FAVORITE!!!
  • Sunflower Fields & Photo Opportunities Galore: Capture stunning photos surrounded by vibrant sunflowers and fun props. This was my favorite thing!
  • All Day Access to Barnyard Funland: Enjoy family-friendly activities in the Barnyard Funland area.
  • FREE Parking: Convenient and complimentary parking to make your visit hassle-free. There is a tractor with a wagon to transport you to the festival site to eliminate some walking.

With so much to see and do, Blake's Sunflower Festival is an event you won't want to miss! 🌻

Michigan Sunflower Fields and Farms to Visit!

My Favorite Things At Blakes Sunflower Festival

1. Explore Stunning Sunflower Fields

One of the main reasons I recommend Blake’s Sunflower Festival is the sheer beauty of the sunflower fields. Imagine taking a leisurely stroll through acres of vibrant, golden sunflowers swaying gently in the breeze. The fields are not just a feast for the eyes but also offer endless photo opportunities. I personally couldn’t resist taking a million photos, and the photo props scattered throughout the field added a fun and creative touch. My favorite moment? Having my photo taken on a tractor, surrounded by sunflowers, I mean how cool is that?!

The festival also offers a train ride that takes you to the sunflower fields, which was one of my highlights. It's awesome that you don't have to walk!

2. Yoga at Blake's Sunflower Fest!

If you’re into yoga, don’t miss the “Yoga” sessions offered several times a day. Practicing yoga is a great way to relax, stretch, maybe giggle a bit and get centered!

3. Shopping and Creativity Galore

Another reason to love this festival is the incredible shopping experience. With over 150 talented artisans showcasing their crafts, there’s something for everyone. From handmade jewelry and art to unique home décor, I found myself drawn to so many beautiful items. The clothing stalls were particularly hard to resist – I ended up buying a lovely white crocheted sleeveless sweater.

But it’s not just about shopping. The festival also includes DIY make-and-take workshops where you can unleash your creativity. You can create your own sunflower-themed crafts, enjoy free classes, listen to speakers, and watch demonstrations on topics like natural wellness and farming that are both informative and inspiring. It’s a great way to learn something new while enjoying a day out.

4. U-Pick Vegetables

Another reason I recommend Blake’s Sunflower Festival is the fantastic U-Pick experience. Admission includes access to U-Pick sunflowers, fruits, and vegetables. There’s something so satisfying about picking your own vegetables! Upon arrival you can see which vegetables and fruit is available to pick. Depending on the weather they have zucchini, peaches, raspberries, squash, plums, peppers, green beans and more.

A Perfect Day Out!

Blake’s Sunflower Festival is more than just an event – it’s a celebration of summer, nature, togetherness, harvest, beauty, and creativity.

Whether you’re looking for a fun day out with friends, a family-friendly activity, or a memorable father-daughter outing, this festival has it all. I was so impressed by the variety of activities, the beauty of the surroundings, and the overall positive vibe of the event. I’m already looking forward to attending again next year – it’s become one of my favorite Michigan summer traditions.

If you’re planning a visit, make sure to bring your camera, some comfortable shoes, and a sense of adventure. The memories you’ll make at Blake’s Sunflower Festival are ones you’ll treasure for years to come. Don’t miss out on this fantastic experience – it’s truly a day well spent! 🌻

What To Bring

Here is what I recommend bringing from my experiences this year at Blake's Sunflower Festival and Blake's Lavender Festival...

  • Comfortable shoes-you will walk a lot!
  • Don't wear your best shoes, they can get dirty as you walk on dirt and grass
  • Wear a hat
  • Sunscreen
  • If you plan to pick vegetables: Bring a flat box, bags, a snipper tool, gloves, muckin' boots or old shoes (can be very wet and muddy), large hat.

When to Go

It's definitely cooler an less crowded in the morning. You will need at least three hours to wander the grounds, shop, eat a few snacks and enjoy lunch.
