What if It Rains?
The show will must go on! Silver Bells is a rain or shine event so be prepared! It's usually very cold, around 35-40 degrees at night in November in Michigan, so wear warm hats, boots, gloves and jackets!
CROWDS. It's very busy and the streets are lined with thousands of people for the parade, tree lighting, drone show and fireworks, especially in front of the capitol. Capital Ave gets 20 people deep watching the parade.
If you wish to avoid crowds (as much as possible, anyway), we recommend watching the parade along other sections of the route other than right in front of the capitol on S. Capitol Avenue. South Washington Square is less packed.
Get there early so you can find parking and a spot for the parade.
Dress WARM. You will be outside from 5:00 pm until about 8:45 pm.
There are several porta johns on Capitol Ave near the capitol building and along the parade route.
NOTE: Bring TP as the porta johns run out.
