You've Gotta See These Incredible Natural Springs in Michigan!
Largo Springs are breathtaking natural springs in Michigan!
Per the USDA, Largo Springs was used as a drinking water source since pre-settlement times and dams were constructed on the springs by early loggers before the turn of the century. These dams were used to divert water to the logging camps.
People have visited the springs since the 1920s. Since it was so popular, Civilian Conservation Corps built a trail to the springs in 1934. The dams lasted until 1981 when a storm took them out. In 1991 the dams were rebuilt and the boardwalks and step were built to the beauty that it is today.
The view from the bottom is absolutely breathtaking! So peaceful!
As you can see, there are lot of stairs and lovely boardwalks perfect for exploring the area, taking photos and enjoying the scenery.
- Just so you know, there are no restrooms at the bottom.
How Many Stairs are at Largo Springs?
If you are wondering how many steps are at Largo Springs, well it's ONLY 300 steps down (and well, back up again).
Largo Springs is Gorgeous Even In Winter!
Is Largo Springs Open in the Winter? Yes! And it's spectacular!
Largo Springs is just as beautiful and so very different in the winter. It's definitely worth a visit, I was absolutely in awe. Not to mention there is little foot traffic in the winter.
But keep in mind the pathways and stairs will not be cleared so be very careful of ice and slippery areas.
There's Outhouses!
Largo Springs has two outhouses open all year located very close to the parking lot.
