Visit Wagner Falls in Summer and Winter: Breathtaking Upper Peninsula Michigan Waterfall For Your Bucket List | Directions, Trail | By: Sherry Trautman | Travel-Mi.com | Updated: October 23, 2022
- Wagner Falls is a spectacular must-see waterfall located in Munising, Michigan.
It is one of our absolutely favorite places to stop when we are headed to Houghton, Michigan to visit Chris' mom.
The roar of the rapids is so calming and picturesque, you've gotta see it for yourself!
Plus, getting there is half the fun! Wander along a spectacular boardwalk that takes you through a very picturesque forest. Look for forest critters along the way!
Before you know it, you will arrive at the observation deck to view the falls in all its glory!
How long is the Wagner Falls hike?
We would say it takes about 5 minutes to get to the falls from your vehicle. It's a flat 0.2 mile walk so it's easy to get there.
Check out some of our cool drone footage of the spectacular falls!
This gorgeous short boardwalk leads you through a fairy tale forest! (May want to wear pants and long sleeves if you are there during the mosquito/black fly season).
- The path is flat and easy to walk. It's about a 5 minute walk to the falls.
Where is Wagner Falls? Directions and Map
Wagner Falls Directions and Map:
Located in Munising, Michigan, Wagner Falls is very easy to find. The falls are located near the junction of M-28 and M-94.
There is a small dirt parking lot that fits about 4-5 vehicles. There is a gorgeous boardwalk that leads to the falls. This boardwalk is just as much of a wow factor as the falls themselves. I adore this walk to the falls and relish spotting wildlife among the trees and underbrush.
Where to Park at Wagner falls?
It's roadside parking (dirt) and it's only a short walk to the falls, maybe 5 minutes.
Are There Bathrooms At Wagner Falls?
Nope, ya gotta hold it!
“Water is the most perfect traveller because when it travels it becomes the path itself!”

Wagner Falls in Winter in Breathtaking!
Wagner Falls in Winter
The area along the road for parking and the path is not plowed/cleared so you will most likely be walking in snow. But just be prepared and wear tall winter boots because it's lovely!
Stunning Wagner Falls in Winter! It is Worth Visiting Any Time of Year!
Wagner Falls is our favorite falls to visit in the winter. The water is still running yet you still get to see frozen areas of the waterfall.
If you have questions, the Munising Chamber of Commerce is helpful!
Best Time to Visit Wagner Falls (Any Time There Isn't Black Flies!)
Wagner Falls is gorgeous all year 'round, but I'm not gonna lie, the black fly season is vicious. Avoid it at all costs!
If you are planning to visit in the summer, we recommend the later in the season, the better. August through September is a very beautiful time to go and will up your chances of avoiding the flies.
If you plan to go in mid-summer, it's best to be prepared with full face bug nets and have your hands, arms and legs covered. We experienced these flies one year (we were unprepared) and we literally ran to the falls, said, "yup!" snapped some pics and ran back screaming. How disappointing!
